So, I’ve been meaning to do a Too Faced review for awhile, but was putting it off because it was going to be fairly large (aka, I’m lazy).  So… instead I decided to break up the review into bits as I ordered multiple items.  In this post I’ll go ahead and review my actual shipping experience and overall packaging, plus give you the deets on Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I’ve been meaning to check out this primer for awhile due to all the raving reviews, and finally got the money awhile back to try it.  (Check out Phyrra’s comparisons of eyeshadow primers here.)  I originally just planned on buying the TFSI, but Phyrra suggested I give their foundation a shot as well, so I bought…

Amazing Face Liquid Foundation in Warm Vanilla ($36)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($18)

I ended up getting a free Deluxe Tanning Bed in a Tube, plus a free sample mini-tube of more TSFI.  My only complaint is that I wish the free gift was a choice rather than just one option… I don’t tan, I don’t use bronzer, and I don’t plan on doing so anytime soon.

But I guess that’s what I get for ordering so close to summer!

I would have given this a 5/5, but I have a feeling that they forgot to mark my order as shipped when they shipped it.  I placed my order on April 7th and received confirmation, and then heard nothing until April 12th, which is when I received my shipping notification saying I would receive it in ‘5-7 business days’.  I was slightly annoyed that it was going to take almost 2 weeks to ship an order from a major company, but then the product ended up arriving the next day!  So all in all, it only ended up taking 6 days to get here, which is not bad at all and about what I expected.

One word: gorgeous!

All of the packaging, as you can see, is quite elegant and sturdy.  My cats had fun with the pink shreddings.

The TSFI and Bronzer both came in fairly standard squeezy tubes, though I noticed the product in the Bronzer tube tends to come out a bit too easily.  I’m not using it beyond a swatch though, because I’ll probably save it for a giveaway I might eventually do.  The TFSI tube is great.  The winner, however, is the foundation packaging!  It’s great!  The bottle is glass, and looks so pretty.  Getting product out is fairly easy.  I just put my finger over the tip and then tip it over to get a dollop on my finger.  I’ll go more into this in my next review.

It’s simply fantastic, and a little goes a long way.  Which is good, because at $18 a pop… that’s important.  A small bit on your finger is enough to cover both lids.  I give the formula a 5/5 because it pumps up my eyeshadows vibrancy and shine, plus makes it so it doesn’t crease the entire day.  I don’t have to touch it up once.  Some people have complained of it creasing, but that’s odd to me… I have pretty oily lids, and I don’t have a problem.  I guess there are people out there with more oily lids than me!  However, unless it’s a super bad problem I would highly recommend this product.  (From what I’ve read it works for most people, very few it doesn’t.)

It’s easy to work with and has a good feel.

So, to put it to the test I used the following colors without primer and with primer:

1. Geek Chic Cosmetics in Scientist Salarian

2. Geek Chic Cosmetics in What’s under the helmet?

3. Geek Chic Cosmetics in Matriarch

4. Geek Chic Cosmetics in Archangel

Big difference!

I will definitely buy this again when I run out, which looks like won’t be for awhile.  You can buy the colors shown here, and you can buy Too Faced Shadow Insurance here, and I’m sure you can also buy it at Sephora or on Amazon or something.

What’s your experience with TFSI?
